What You Get
What's
in the box? Well, besides the card, you'll find a
really short one page printed instructions sheet,
a bag with three jumper caps to set the board for
AGP 4x operation, and an installation CD.
What
you'll find on the installation CD besides the
drivers and manual are:
Diamond's
InControl Tools 99
Savage Island Demo
(shows off S3TC, pretty cool)
Microsoft Internet
Explorer 4.0
Zoran's SoftDVD
Portola's Fremont
SE
CrystalGraphics' 3D
Sensations for Presentations
Diamond's
GameZone, which allows you to get 2 of
the following games for free (you pay the
$12.99 S&H):
Also
included is a trial version of Electronic Arts' Need For Speed III: Hot
Pursuit.
This is the full blown game folks. However, it is
time limited and a key to remove this trial
feature can be purchased at NetActive .
All
in all, a pretty damn sweet package for a budget
video card. For less than $120 you get a decent
video card that has S3TC, 32MB RAM, AGP 4x
support, good hardware assist for DVD, a good
software DVD player and three good games. Not a
bad deal in my book.
But,
I must reiterate, never buy hardware based on the
bundle alone. Let the bundle be the kicker when
confronted with a tough choice, but never the
major factor in your purchase decision.
Allright,
now that we've seen what's in the box, let's take
a look at the card....
